2 Tage Akagera Wildlife Safari

What an amazing weekend! Very well organised trip to Akagera, where we stayed at the Ruzizi Tented Loge. The Night Game Drive, Morning Boat Tour and Day Game Drive where mire of I dated to expect, I can highly recommend!

We spent 2 fabulous days at Akagera. Serge is a great trip organisier and guide who is willing to modify the trips to your needs and interests. We were accompanied by Fabrice who safely drove us there and back and did an amazing job navigating the park‘s often tricky paths. Highly recommend if you are looking for a well organized trip and reliable and attentive guides.

My husband and I had a wonderful time with Serge and Fabrice guiding us on our 2 days in Akagera. They met us at our place in Kigali and made sure we were comfortable in our open-top safari car, which had seats for 5, so the two of us got to spread out! The car was equipped with a cooler and cup holders, which was important because we stopped at a wonderful coffee shop (also with tasty fast food, a farmer's market, art gallery and gift shop) about halfway during the 3 hour drive to Akagera. This was our second trip to Akagera, but the first time staying overnight; we stayed at the Akagera Game Lodge. Rwagasabo arranged for the hotel and for an afternoon boat trip and night game drive, both conducted by the park staff. Serge and Fabrice provided door-to-door service to make sure we were delivered safely to each of these activities. The next morning we left the hotel for a day-long game drive. We were so fortunate to see tons of amazing creatures during the game drive, including buffalo, rhino, elephants, and a lion (plus many others)! There were some turn-offs that we took that I believe increased our chances of spotting these special animals. Serge provided good information about the animals we saw, the land area itself, as well as the conservation efforts of the park. We chose to bring our own snacks and lunches, but these could also have been purchased at the coffee shop stop, from the hotel, or from the Lake Mihindi picnic spot in the park (if this stop is on the itinerary). At the hotel a tasty breakfast was included, and we purchased dinner for 25,000Rfr for a set menu with starters, main course and dessert - we were stuffed!
